    Abstract

Objective: to analyze the manifestations of gender discrimination through the presence of ambivalent sexism in the hostile and benevolent subtype, according to the sex and major of university students. Methodology: descriptive, comparative and transversal study. The intentional non-probabilistic technique was used in the sample, for which 429 university students from 3 universities were obtained; PUCE of Quito, Esmeraldas and Nacional of Loja. Results: Regarding the benevolent sexism score, men obtained a mean of 13.27 (SD=5.98, SE=0.356), while women obtained a mean of 9.90 (SD=4.66, SE=0.310). Conclusion: There is a significant difference in attitudes towards sexism between men and women, with higher levels in its hostile and benevolent forms, which leads to identifying the presence of gender discrimination reflected as ambivalent sexism.
