Abstract
Critical Transnational Pedagogy is grounded in a Freirean approach to education that prioritises symmetrical power relations in the pursuit of social justice. This research examines how this pedagogy is enacted through Collaborative Transnational Teaching, in which educators in different countries collaboratively create and deliver courses to students across borders. Using three case studies of transnational media and communication courses between Ecuador-Argentina, Nigeria-Pakistan, and New Zealand-China, this research argues that Collaborative Transnational Teaching enables a Critical Transnational Pedagogy by centring symmetrical power relations; supporting collaboration between educators; focusing on local needs with global impacts; and prioritising intercultural competence and understanding.
