Abstract
The Heisenberg equations of motion are used to calculate the fluctuation properties of the photon field and the recombination current in a traveling-wave semiconductor laser amplifier. These results are of importance for ascertaining the ultimate sensitivity of the detecting function of a laser amplifier used for simultaneous detection and amplification.
