Semi-automated compliance check with CONSORT guidelines

Problem: While reporting guidelines aim to simplify the submission process, they create a burden on both the author and editor. Complying with and reviewing each element of the CONSORT standard clinical trial reporting guideline takes time and attention to detail.

We’re creating: a text mining tool that can locate statements corresponding to CONSORT checklist items. Such a tool could assist authors in ensuring completeness of their reports, journal editors in enforcing transparency requirements, as well as reviewers and others in critically appraising clinical trials transparency and rigor criteria.
