The project involved developing an OpenCV plugin for ECL. This was facilitated as an external service implementation via the use of shared objects. The underlying core OpenCV modules were developed in C++ and were interfaced to ECL via a service library file. The project was also extended for the development of several use cases such as license plate detection, several core transformation functions such as Rotation, Gaussian blur and Thresholding, as well as edge detection. The results were tested on a two node setup to draw timing comparisons against a typical single node approach for each of these cases, and were found to be about 30% faster on the two node system.
